9/11 + 11 the movie -- the caliphate strikes back

Yesterday was the 11th anniversary of the attacks on New York's World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and wherever Flight 93 was headed before its doomed passengers counterattacked the plane's hijackers.

There were the usual tributes and memorials. And New York and DC, everyone says, enjoyed bright, clear skies and moderate temperatures -- just like on 9/11/01.

Too sad.

And on what is a day of mourning for the USA, the burgeoning muslim caliphate in the Mediterranean went on some kind of blockheaded rampage, storming the walls of US consulates in Egypt and Libya. They tore down and burned the US flag in Egypt, generating a wimp-like apology for America's religious tolerance from the State Dept's chargez-des-morons there. In Libya, an American was killed by a mob roaming the streets like a pack of rabid dogs. Just the same old same old for muslim nations.

Why? They claim it's because of a movie made in the USA that portrays Mohammed in a bad light.

I stalked YouTube and another visitor announced that the trailer for the anti-Mohammed movie was available at LiveLeak. So trekked over there.

If the 12-minute clip at LiveLeak is the movie the Egyptians and Libyans are so hysterical about -- what a bunch of loonies. The movie -- or at least the clip -- stinks very badly.

First of all, it's kind of funny in the way it pastes the live action over what appears to be  various photographs of the desert. The characters walk around and leave no footprints in the sand. What I assume is supposed to be an "armored vehicle" in one scene looks like a cardboard replica of the Nazi Volkswagen Beetle. The people wear very strange head gear, reminiscent of the "doo rags" blacks used to wear sometimes when they were trying to straighten their hair. (No longer cool, unless you're First Lady.)

The dialog apparently was written so that even -- or only -- an 8-year-old could understand it. And Mohammed directs several cohorts who, in any other film, could only be regarded as comic relief. Mohmammed himself doesn't do much but drool at the sight of big-breasted women and allow himself, but no one else, to take liberties with them.

The movie would be insulting except that it's so silly. Which is why I still harbor doubts about whether or not that thing at LiveLeak is THE movie that got the caliphate's panties in such a twist. The clip is ridiculous. Certainly not worth killing over. Perhaps only the muslims could take it seriously. The movie's so bad it's laughable.

But I've heard about some of the movies Iran's Abracadabrajab has produced, and perhaps even written, about how there was no Holocaust in World War II, etc etc. Those are equally as much as crap as the anti-Mohammed one, though with better production values. Yet I don't recall any westerners, not even Israelis or Holocaust survivors -- taking to the streets like extras in a Frankenstein movie and burning Iranian flags.

The caliphate just isn't civilized. They need to learn Lesson #1 about living in the world with other people. That is -- tolerance. We put up with your crap, you put up with ours.

The alternative is you blow up our cities, we blow up yours. Is that preferable?

Save the Republic.
